My review for Elias, BGC Taguig
Ordinary working day, 4-hour overtime, and missed dinner. This calls for an emergency good food moment.
Cheers,
Trixie
It's nearly 10:30pm and finding a place to eat can be a challenge on a weekday. Luckily, Tony Roma's is open until eleven.
Tony Roma's is just by the Glorietta 4 entrance, you can't miss it. It's been there since like forever.
Taste
The patty wasn't so bad. Average-sized (a quarter-pound, maybe), not sure if grilled or fried. The patty, although 'well-done', was softer than you'd expect.
However, there's one thing that usually makes me not like a burger that I found--when there's just too much ligaments (litid) getting in the way of my chewing. It's hard to chew. It gets in your teeth. Big 'No'. :(
But that's just me. I rarely hear the same comments from other people so it probably isn't so bad for some. The flavour, however, was okay.
Speaking of big, the coleslaw on the side is a big plus for me. Loved how similar it was to Filling Station's coleslaw.
Service
They are open until 11 pm, as I was told. I came there at around 10:30 so there's barely anybody eating there. It wasn't applaudable, there wasn't anyone on stand-by so, uhh, anyway, probably everybody was ready to go home, so I should thank them for still attending to me with smiles! :P
Price
Benchmarking at P250-300, this 375-peso burger (with fries and coleslaw) is definitely on the expensive side. But are you getting your money's worth?
It depends. If you don't mind the litid, then you're good.

Conclusion:
Tony Roma's had been around for a while now, and it's just now that I finally gave in to trying their burg. They are very famous for their ribs and steaks--for a hell of a reason. So... Note To Self: Don't come to Tony Roma's for burgers, come for steaks! Hahaha.

I am a McDonald's kid since 1991(or '95 maybe) but I do enjoy ocassional Jollibee feasts. So I was home-alone the other day and realised I haven't had any cash with me (genius). I went to jollibeedelivery.com and hoped they accept online payments. It was a long shot but I was very surprised that they actually do!
"Yey! I am not going to starve to death! Not today!"
I am very sure their website just went through an upgrade because I used to complain how crappy it was.

Since you already paid online, you don't have to sit by the phone anymore to expect a call to confirm (which I believe defeats the entire 'online delivery' purpose). Now you never have to get up for anything other than to get the food from the door! Wonderful! Haha.
You prolly think I could just give them my cellphone number, and you're prolly right, but unfortunately, Globe has been very nice for not fixing my signal issues at home for 3 years now... but that's a story for another day.

Yes, all mine. Heyy, what can I do? They have a 200-peso minimum.
I've been loving my YUM! + Mashed Potato + Buttered corn combo lately and maybe you're grossed out about it, but I have always been known for weird food choices so I luv it and I dunn curr. Haha.
Maybe you can give a try!
It's a chill Sunday afternoon and I went out to see my college friends Ice and Rich. After hanging out for a couple of hours, we met Ice's boyfriend and had dinner at a little steakhouse near Caltex, in, uhh, Marcos Highway.
You can never have too much affordable steak places to eat in.
I always love that couple's food recommendations and Brickfire is probably one of the reasons why.
...apart from the fact that they are both Chefs. Hehehe.

Ambiance
The place is nice, clean and spacious. The smokey steak smell will linger on your clothes but we were going straight home afterwards, so I didn't mind.
Taste
I'm not a steak lover per se but I do enjoy it every once in a while. I copied what Ice had and went for a Cowgirl Annie. Is it good?
A 220-gram tender, juicy, and smokey slab of Pork Steak in sweet flavourful Honey Mustard for 164 pesos? YOU tell me.
Here's the rest of their menu: Brickfire Steaks and Chops Menu
Location:
Brickfire Steaks and Chops is in Caltex Station, Marcos Highway. So if you are from the North, it would be pretty easy for you to find them. I heard they also have branches in Katipunan and SM North.
Bring Brickfire to Ayala or BGC pleeease!

Service:
Ice and boyfie come here very often and I can see why. Apart from the good tasting steaks, they also have good and fast service. Their slogan was "Baked steak is worth the wait" but the wait wasn't really too long.
Verdict:
Overall, it was a nice, too good to be true experience. I loved the place, I loved the food. I loved having to eat there with good friends. If only I am anywhere near a branch, you'd surely see me there many times a week.
My, my. Maybe I'll get a Saddle next time!

I heard our friend, Den, was performing in a cafe in Libis, so, Fifi and I decided to tag along. A Ukelele-themed cafe sounded really cool!
It's a Friday Sweldo Night and you can only imagine how tough it was to get from Makati to Libis. But since we really wanted to see our friend do her thang, we gave into the x2.2 Uber surge and just hoped for the best.
We arrived after about an hour which I think is not so bad.
(If you're curious, our Uber trip cost us P479.)
It's an open mic night so everyone was welcome to play and sing along. Den and her friend who sang with her were really good and so were the other 2 seemingly regular performers that were there when we came. I haven't seen her played in a long time and I loved it so much! I'm starting to want to learn playing, too.

The place is small, but enough for a few barkadas and families. There are Ukelele's hanged on one side of the wall (which are for sale, I think, so lucky you if you fancy any).

They have really cozy nooks with bean bags and coffee tables and I think it's really nice and comfy and beautiful! But because I'm a total genius, I didn't bring my cam and haven't gotten a picture. I wish I can find a restaurant just like it in Ayala or BGC!
We got there practically starving and wanted to get everything off of their menu. Their menu was, rather interesting though, to have Ramen.

It's such a very inspiring sight to see people sharing their beautiful talent, doing what they love doing.
Uke Box Caffe is a fresh new restaurant that I would argue every music lover will love. Aside from coffee, sandwiches, and ramen, and other delicious blended drinks, they offer free jamming sessions every weekend nights, Ukelele Workshops (on a schedule) and lastly, customised Ukeleles!
The place was very difficult to find on Maps so if you need to find them, go visit them on Facebook to get directions.
It's just across Eastwood Pulis Station to the left. Don't trust me 'cause I'm directionally challenged. You're better off looking at the map on their FB page! :P

Tipsy Beans, is a coffee shop with a twist. They have introduced the idea of making good ole' wholesome drinks mixed with a little bit of liquor. Surprise, surprise.
Tipsy Beans just opened right across our office building, and in this hot summer weather, having a new (not to mention affordable) dining place open up close by is awesome.
Interestingly enough, since I only visit Tipsy Beans during lunch break from office, Their Tipsy drinks is probably not the way to go.
Since I am OBSESSED with breakfast food, I had their All-Day Breakfast Chicken Tocino.
It took a while before my order arrived, which is forgiveable because the place literally just opened.
The wait was worth it.
It's a full meal. I would usually choose brewed coffee because their Iced Tea is too sweet for my taste, but it's such a HOT day!
It's the details that matter.
I love their choice of tableware, fresh and trendy. There's nothing like good food with extra effort on presentation.
This All-Day Breakfast Chicken Tocino is top notch I couldn't speak more about it. I have always raved about the Chicken Tocino in Slappy Cakes, but Mango Ensalada aside, it's pwned.
They also have Pork Longganisa which was equally good, but you know, Chicken is luv.
Here's the rest of their Food Menu:
Their Makati branch is a hole-in-the-wall. The entire restaurant is like a piece of glass room attached in front of 2 existing restaurants, probably owned by the same person. It's like a mole in the wall.
...Dafuq did you just read?
My friends also recommend: Spam Tempura and Adobo Flakes (YES!).
Overall, Tipsy Beans, I would argue that Tipsy Beans can be famous not only for their re-invention of drinks, but also their food selection. I commend them for not only making food that satisfying and well-presented--but for making a tiny restaurant classy yet affordable.
GOOD NEWS: It's the perfect time to pay them a visit because MetroDeal is offering half-off coupons this week!

1 generous portion of Chicken Tocino, 2 eggs, 1 garlic rice, with drinks (choice of brewed coffee or iced tea) PHP 140.00
I am craving as I write...

One freakin' hot day they were out of Iced Tea and ate was very nice to offer to switch my Hot Brewed Coffee to Iced Brewed Coffee! Yay!
I wish I can tell you how many times (exactly) I've been here, but let's just say I'm practically eat here everyday. It's mah turf now betchaz! It's the details that matter.

Beer-Battered Fish Fillet with Tartar Sauce (Regular) PHP 95.00
Ian liked the Beer-Battered Fish Fillet with Tartar Sauce. There's just too much umay factor for me and the tartar sauce isn't helping much, but he loved it so,,, okay. They have 2 portions available, Regular and Large. The Large portion is 50% more than the other.
Milo Godzilla (sober) PHP 95 Classic Milo 'on the rocks' with Vanilla Ice Cream!
Tuna Melt Sandwich Php 95 Too expensive for the size compared to their other dishes, but suits my Tuna taste!
Service is equally good here at Tipsy Beans Makati, since we have lunch here almost everyday, we've actually gotten to know Ate Grace (who usually serves us). We even say hi when we bump into each other after work hours. LOL. They are extra nice, extra rice! (LOL. OK.)

I am going to a place far away from home, and I needed Ian's help to get there safe, or get there at all.

One Saturday afternoon we went out to Rockwell for lunch. I haven't been there in a long time, and nothing much has changed, apart from these people walking around holding this interesting cone of I'm-not-sure-but-it-looks-cool!
I've seen a LOT of people holding it, with a huge L and A on the cardboard. I'm too shy to ask what it was, and isn't that rude and annoying? Anyway, so I search the entire mall (not a problem), feeling like a detective tracing where the wave of people is coming from--and then finally...
Ground floor, right beside Zaifu--
It's very interesting that their tables have holes in them to fit your cone in if you are sitting down. But because I'm a very busy gal, I just went for a 12-pc Churros (PHP 195) with a Belgian chocolate dip (medium - PHP 60) on the side to-go.
(Just kidding, the seats are all taken)
Fresh off the pan, it tasted GLORIOUS. Light and crispy on the outsideThere isn't much to compare it with but there's no denying, that's good stuff right there.
The Belgian chocolate dip, as you can see dripping from the rim, has a thick consistency, which I loved. You don't have any other choices for the dip, but they do offer churros with filling that comes in different flavours.
I haven't gotten an upclose shot of the churros, but if you can look closer, they are sprinkled with a little bit of sugar (is it?)
Churros, in its nature of being deep-fried can be a little oily--but bearable.
The perfect sweet and salty + chocolatey combination in every piece leaves a good taste in the mouth.Half-way through, I felt the umay kicking in.
Lesson learned: 6-pcs will cut it if you are eating alone*.
Here's the rest of the menu.

There isn't a lot of places to get Churros here in Manila. I dare say, it's underrated in the country.
Apart from Churros City whose(?) stalls are far too inconvenient for me to visit, and Dulcinea whose Churros I am not exactly a fan of, their isn't much out there to run to a for a Churros fix.
If you didn't know, this morning, all McDonald's branches were giving away free McMuffins to their first 1000 customers. McDonald's is celebrating with us National Breakfast Day, now on its 3rd year in the Philippines.
One thing they doing different this year is having a Hooray for McDo Mornings Card!
My friend Darryl was able to get me one when he dropped by this morning. I think this is the first time I've seen McDonald's offering loyalty cards. Very exciting! If there's one thing I love the most about McDonald's it's their breakfast. I can literally eat it every freaking day, and now I can get rewarded for it!
The idea is to collect stamps by purchasing their McSaver Meals, Breakfast Meals and Chicken McDo Meals (excluding BFF bundles, Happy Meal and a la carte orders). There are 12 numbers on the card and you get a treat for every 3 meals you buy. On your 12th meal purchase you're rewarded with BUY ONE MEAL, GET ONE MEAL FREE.
You can drop by any McDonald's branch and get your own Hooray for McDo Mornings Card.
Promo period is from March 10 to May 31, 2015.

Filling Station, a burger place I never knew about, was introduced to me by my friend, Fifi.
Ambiance. It isn't quite the family place so if you're planning to drop by, I suggest you go with your girlfrans or guy pals instead. Situated in Makati's so-called Red Light District, we don't really expect it to be anything conservative.

The restaurant is easy to miss as the entrance is pretty small compared to...
It was like the universe conspired to have restaurants open up in Jupiter Street and Makati Ave just as we moved in.
Chips, is a new fast food chain in Jupiter which seems to go under the Jollibee category. Jollibee category whuuut.

8 Cuts Burgers made quite a buzz when it first opened its first branch in Katipunan.
Up until now it's making noise most especially that they have been quickly expanding. People have high regards for their food--top-rated, highly recommended. So now that they have opened in BGC, I decided it's about time I go see for myself.
So I was in Serendra to meet some friends for a quick catch up over dinner or something, I stopped fooling myself that I am into any sort of diet and we went over to 8 Cuts Burgers, because YOLO! Haha.
Did my yolo annoy you?
The place was well decorated, definitely somewhere you'd go to when you want burgers. It's very similar to Burger Bar, which was not surprising because I would guess they are of the same company.
