App Picks: There's An App For That! Copy-paste manager and more.
05:32
I am very specific about the things I need--even with especially with what my phone can do. There's always one thing I can nitpick about a phone (hence, the name of this blog) so, everytime I find a dilemma, I would really dig into the app store (Google Play Store) because I do believe there's an app for everything*.
Here's a few apps that I have always made sure to keep on my phone since the first time I had an Android (Circa 2010). FYI, I just said circa but I don't actually know what that means.
Few of these have actually become very popular.
#1 - CamScanner

I think this was one of the coolest apps I ever had. It was one of those apps that allows you to use your phone as a scanner. It was Android 2.1 by then and cameras weren't as good, were they! The difference it makes against a regular snap is that after you take the picture, it adjusts your image so it's bright and clear. Ever more fancy, it detects the edges of the object and shapes it so it looks flat out! Almost cried when I first discovered this.
#2 - Clipper & Clipper Plus with sync
Do you remember that time you are doing something on your tablet then you're thinking, "damn, I hope I can copy and paste this to my phone"? Well there's an app for that! Clipper+ syncs your clipboard across your all your Android devices. It also keeps a history of your clipboard and allows you to edit and save them. Clipper+ is a paid app and you can find similar free apps for it, a couple of which I tried, but trust me when I say nothing does the job better. Clipper comes in a free version but it doesn't have the sync feature as you have probably guessed by the name. So if the clipboard history is already good enough for you, then you're probably better of with that.
#3 - Link Bubble
Interesting article on facebook, found! Click. Wait for browser to load. Read. Go back to Facebook. Wait for the feed to load. REPEAT. I don't know about you, but that annoys me. It feels like the amount of switching between apps is too damn high! Link Bubble was heaven sent. When you click on a link, it opens up as a floating web browser, meaning, you don't have to switch around because it just floats like those Facebook chat heads which you can flick around or hide when you want to. It sits right on top of your currently active app so there's no fuzz! I swear I can't find anything like it. It's a pretty useful feature so I find it strange. If you know of any please let me know!
#4 - 8tracks
Before Spotify was introduced to the Philippines, we had a few other options for streaming music and/or internet radio. 8 tracks was what I had. There are limitations in skips and there were only visual ads. I haven't experienced Spotify Free because I went on the 30-day trial right away when I installed, but I heard there are audio ads in between tracks in Spotify and that can be annoying. You might want to consider this one.
#5 - Shazam
When you hear a random song in a restaurant or in the car, you don't have to right down the lyrics anymore. Download Shazam, tap on the huge button, make it listen to the music, and it comes back with a track. Try Shazam and see/hear for yourself! This feature is actually built-in with Sony devices, TrackID, I think it's called. But that's not really as effective.
#6 - Energy Bar

This might be the most unpopular from the list, but definitely not the least. If you like playing games on your phone/tablet, battery level is very important information. Energy Bar shows your battery level through a very thin line on the edge of your screen even when you are in full-screen. Very simple and useful.
#7 - Pocket
This one I believe is quite popular. If you come across an interesting video or article at a very inconvenient time, just save it in your "Pocket" for later. I believe this is used to be called "Read-It-Later" or something. Not sure. I could be making that up.
I have a lot more apps in mind, but these are the ones I can actually remember. Do you have any apps that are not so popular but you think should be? I'd really love for you to share them with me!
