Sanboxie: Test Malicious Software Without Risking Your Computer

20:43

Sometimes, PCs are not all for just Facebook, Twitter, photo editing and type work. I love Android, and I love the idea of rooting devices just as much. I need my PC to do that. But like any other 'hacking' tools, one might call it, PCs and anti-virus softwares don't trust rooting applications.
For those who are not familiar, rooting is a way of getting hardcore admin access to your phone. It's going beyond what you are allowed to tinker with. You can seriously mess up your device if you don't know what you're doing.
(Back to topic)
Hacking tools are obtrusive in nature so it's no surprise that they are not welcomed, whether it be good or bad. There's no definite way in telling them apart but I might have just found the right application to see it for myself--minus the consequences.

Sandboxie - trust no program
"except this one... maybe?"
I wish I can explain what made me trust this application, but feedback from the user community is always good to start with.

Basically what it does is give you a virtual sandbox in your computer, where it lets you run/install applications enclosed in that sandbox. Meaning, you don't have to worry about the suspicious application throwing unwanted programs all over your system when you install it, because it won't let it!
"What happens in Sandboxie, stays in Sandboxie."
That's everything it is in a nutshell.

Programs running in Sandboxie has this symbols in the window title [#] <title> [#] and has a yellow border when you drag it so you would know it is.

You can also open up folders and directories in Sandboxie. You can copy and paste inside a folder created in Sandboxie mode, but you can't copy/move going out. That's good.

Another good use for it is to stay protected against malicious website links.

Here's how it works.

1) Install Sandboxie.
2) Right-click on Sandbox DefaultBox and choose Run sandboxed > Run Web Browser (or any other program you want). You can also create another Sandbox if you don't want to use the default. This way, any activity you make inside the browser (download, install, etc.) only happens within the sandbox.
3) When you're done, you can either exit Sandboxie or right click on Sandbox DefaultBox and choose Terminate all programs and you're done like nothing happened!

When you search for "get cash now" don't expect safe and legitimate websites. Never...
I was very skeptic about the Vroot tool I was going to use for rooting this Gionee Pioneer P1. I bought this phone a year ago for my business but the memory was too small so I ended up not using it. Google Chrome warned me off about downloading the application, but like I said, that is expected. I wanted to root the device so bad so I went on running everything inside Sandboxie.
Now my device was successfully rooted! Yay!

If you feel you need Sandboxie one way or another, head on over to their website:
Sandboxie is free to download and use, but will show a nag screen after 30 days unless you pay for it.
Visit the website for more info.
The nag screen doesn't bother me so I'll probably pass... for now.

Verdict
Sandboxie is an excellent software that adds an entirely new level of security to any Windows computer. Anti-virus software is still a must as it has always been, and it would be  I highly recommend this program to anyone who has trust issues against software.
