Unboxed: Sony Extra Bass Headphones (MDR-XB250)
21:56
Christmas is early (again) this year. I might have babbled about this one too much, so THE boyfriend decided we pick this up now and just get it over with. (Awww! Ha ha.)
I liked that Sony has rolled out this variant with "Extra Bass" in their affordable range, so I was very into getting it even when I didn't need it. I was able to test this out in the store, I am no audiophile, but I can tell if it's tunog lata--this one ain't. ;)
It doesn't feel like it can take a beating but it does look it--it looks premium, I think the full black body gives that very easily. The cords are semi-flat from the earpiece all the way down to the middle where the cords meet, then stuck together down to the plug.
I just LOVE how it has an L-type plug because it is less likely to be battered and broken like the usual straight plugs, you know what I'm talkin' bawt.
It doesn't have a mic, so if you are planning to use this for calls, or for gaming, you're better off with the MDR-ZX110 that comes at the same price.
It fits me perfectly at the tightest adjustment so it may not be for the petite (I had to say it). The band sits neatly above my head--barely visible, which I think is a good thing if you want to wear this around without looking ridiculous. No offense.
It does hurt my ear a little bit after a few hours of wearing it, but it's tolerable. I don't know a lot about headphones so if you have recommendations for the most comfy headphones, I'd love to hear it!
As you can see, the face of the speaker isglossy and is quite the fingerprint magnet so you might get the feeling of always wanting to wipe them. As you can see in the picture, the same is true with phone and bluetooth headset.
I use it with my Bluetooth Headset (SBH-52) and it's not perfect for it because the cord was really long, but it does the job.
Verdict
Priced at Php 1,499, I think it's a pretty good deal. So if you're not that much of an audiophile, loves that extra bass in your ears, I think the MDR-XB250 is the way to go.
( I think Sony should start giving more readable names to their products. Just my 2 cents.)
Available in Sony Centre stores and Abenson's.
